Down with the sickness

Who: Tony OT Tamara
When: Sunday evening, after practice
Where: Tamara's house

Tony was not feeling well today. In fact, he was actually feeling suspiciously warm, particularly around his shoulder, and it was starting to bother him. He felt particularly cranky today, and really what he wanted to do was go back to the dormitory and sleep, but he'd promised his sister he'd come over for dinner, and so here he was, knocking on the door and feeling generally grouchy.

Mar. 22nd, 2009 06:31 pm (UTC)
Tamara heard the knock, and took a deep breath before opening the door. Since when had they started knocking anyhow - that was as much a sign of how much distance was between them now than anything. At one time, he'd come and gone from here freely without the need.

"Hey bro," she said, keeping her tone carefully light. "Come on in."

She looked him over as he headed inside, frowning. Did he look pale? She closed the door behind him, and led the rest of the way in. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah... just a long day," Tony said. He headed on in, shaking his head a bit. "I feel a little run down." He did indeed look a little pale; even if physically he seemed to be in top physical condition, something was slightly off about the way his eyes darted about.

"If I hadn't promised to come by tonight, I suspect I'd be sleeping now."

Tamara lay a cool hand on his forehead. "You feel warm," she said, frowning.

"Have they been working you too hard? What's going on? Come on and sit down on the couch, hon. You can rest and I'll bring dinner here to you."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 07:17 pm (UTC)
"Well, I worked a full shift," Tony explained, "and then there were these vaccinations, and then Olympic training. My time's good, at least -- and if I can push myself this hard now, I imagine that fully rested I can do better."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 07:35 pm (UTC)
"Vaccinations for what? Maybe you're having some kind of reaction..."

She half-tugged, half-pushed him down to the couch, then settled the couch blanket around him whether he protested or not. "That's it - you're staying here with me and I'm taking care of you. You shouldn't be pushing yourself at all - you should be resting."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 07:50 pm (UTC)
"Mmm." Tony grumbled. "I have work in the morning..." He did have to admit that she was probably right, though. "Everyone on the Olympic team is receiving a full series of vaccinations and immunizations before the games, just to ensure that when the time comes, nobody's sidelined with the sniffles. We're supposed to report to the doctor if there's any signs of reaction, though."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 08:43 pm (UTC)
"Well, you're going to report to Doctor Tamara," she said, tucking the blanket around him. "And you're not going to work in the morning, you're staying right here. No arguments, Antonio. You're staying right here."

She kissed the top of his forehead. "And you're going to have pasta and sausage, and a rootbeer for dinner, because I made you some good pasta just for you."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 08:50 pm (UTC)
"Well, even if I don't go to work, I -should- check in with the doctor," Tony pointed out. "And that's not on my diet..."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 09:17 pm (UTC)
"If you're not any better in the morning I'll call the doctor," Tamara said, neglecting to mention she'd call a doctor that her and Martin knew was safe, not the doctor Tony was seeing.

"And you can forget your diet for once. You're not feeling well, you deserve a treat."

Taking no further complaints, Tamara headed into the kitchen and fetched their plates so they could eat in the living room. Another trip and she collected two root beers. "Now you just eat and enjoy."
Mar. 22nd, 2009 09:23 pm (UTC)
"This is not going to help my good health," Tony said - although he did take a long sip of the root beer. It -had- been a while. "And what are you up to, besides pretending to be a doctor?"
Mar. 23rd, 2009 04:35 am (UTC)
"It so is. It's good for you," Tamara insisted, settling on to the couch beside him with her own food.

"And well, mostly I've been working and doing school things and hanging out with Martin and Mark..."

Mar. 23rd, 2009 04:42 am (UTC)
"Tsk," Tony shook his head. "You spend too much time with your boyfriends. What've you been working on?"
Mar. 23rd, 2009 04:46 am (UTC)
"Well, I can't spend nearly enough time with you anymore..." Tamara scolded, reaching over to pet his hair. "You know I still love you though."

She looked at him very seriously. "Tony, I want to tell you what I'm working on but... lately I'm not sure if we even know each other anymore. I can trust you, right? No matter what. And you can trust me. I want to know what you've been up to - what you've really been up to. And I want to tell you what's going on with my life... but we can't do that if we can't trust each other."
Mar. 23rd, 2009 04:52 am (UTC)
"Well, what do you want to know?" Tony shrugged. "I wouldn't mind telling you -- some of it is just scary. There's some bad things out there."
Mar. 23rd, 2009 04:58 am (UTC)
"I want to know what they have you working on. I want to know what's going on with you and the Friends, and with your Olympic training... just let me in to your life, you know? I'm worried about what you're doing, Tony..."

Tamara stopped eating, and reached to pet his hair gently.
Mar. 23rd, 2009 10:42 pm (UTC)
"Well, things are getting crazier. You wouldn't believe what I'm learning about," Tony said, honestly. "Fighting with things man was never meant to know about, let alone fight."
